What a great time we had in L.A. Amy and I were the perfect match for a weekend of strolling, shopping, and imbibing: we like to spend the same amount of time in a shop; we concurred on which shops were worth going into; and we agreed on when we should take a beverage break - the fun gay bar Roosterfish on Abbott Kinney, where we were beered and charmed by the delightful bartender/actor (of course) Gaetano Jones.
We saw Amy's Vigo goods in a lot of places. Amy is so modest that she would never introduce herself, so this is what I did three times in different stores:
Me: "Do you know the artist Amy Ruppel?"
Store person: "Yes."
Me (pointing): THAT'S AMY RUPPEL!!
And each time it was a lovely connection. Here are some of the highlights of the trip:
Visiting The Reform School and meeting owners Tootie and Billie. They were so kind and fun and lovely.
Lunch at a great outside table at The Ivy.
Gallery Revisited and their wonderful show.
Shopping on Abbot Kinney.
The MOCA store.
Dinner at AOC.
Our design-y hotel
This print I bought at Gallery Revisited by Michael Hsiung: (Great title: "Man carrying fancy bird.")
Thank you for buying my print and featuring me on your blog!!
