Oh what a week. It's been super busy but very rich and fun.
Monday after work I went to the studio. On Tuesday, Sketch Tuesday was cancelled for some reason, so Ashli and I met at Blu Pointe after work for cocktails. We shared a mushroom pizza that used to be much better a year ago. We hadn't hung out in a while so it was constant chat and stories and hilarity and oh-why-don't-we-just-get-a-cab-to-the-Hemlock-for-one-more-drink?
On Wednesday, I met up with the lovely Jess Hutch and the two of us rode on my motorcycle to the stitch and bitch at Leigh Wells's house.
I don't stitch; I got tired of knitting, so instead I brought little paint chip girl drawings to do. I had the pleasure of sharing a table with Maybelle, an amazing calligrapher and owner (with her husband) of just my favorite store in the whole of San Francisco, Stumasa. She taught me how to use a nib pen with opaque white ink and it was fun, although I had a hard time coaxing the ink out.
Leigh is such a great hostess and fills her home with creative fun women, most of whom are in the arts. A food writer for Sunset Magazine, Molly Watson, brought some chocolate cinnamon sandies from the Sunset test kitchen, and they were possibly the best cookies I've ever had. Ever.
On Thursday, Evany, Gina, Gina's friend Michelle, and I went out to Pauline's Pizza in the mission. It was a foursome blind date: I wanted Gina to meet Evany because they are both very smart and funny, and great storytellers, and Gina wanted me to meet Michelle because she is a writer and has written a comic about underwear called Unmentionables. How cool is that? Plus she had some great stories too and sassy hair! it was a very fun evening.
Then today, Friday, I am at home doing laundry because I'm off to L.A. in the morning with Amy. First stop after we get out of LAX - Silverlake for breakfast and great shops, including this one.
