Sketch Tuesday last night was awesome. I sold three pieces, and met the famous Ert O'Hara. Chatted with the charming and funny Pete Doolittle again too and some other cool artists. AND I was on the 11:00 p.m. Fox news last night (I did see the cameras there but I didn't pay much attention; the place was thronged). Sheila, Eric's sister, called this morning to tell us. Apparently the camera was on my face as I was concentrating on painting. I asked if my tongue was out, which is something I tend to do when I'm concentrating, but she said no, so I hope I looked OK.
My birthday gathering on Sunday was wonderful. It was exactly what I wanted to do. First, Eric and I went to Park Life on Clement Street and bought some art books, like this Chris Johanson one, and Dear New Girl, and another one I can't remember the name of. It had work from several artists, including Clare Rojas - one of my favorites. Here are a couple of her paintings:
Then we met about 20 friends in Ireland's 32 on Geary for pints of Guinness. A lot of fun! It was one of the best birthdays ever.
Steve and Erica brought Lili (age four and very cute). She was fascinated with the band setting up on stage and told her mom, "when I'm six, I'm going to be a rock star." Then she watches them some more - getting more and more enthralled - and said, "I don't think I can wait till I'm six."
Yes, I saw you on the news. The Sketch Tuesday segment caught my eye -- I had read about it on this blog. You looked great, and I recognized your work.
