Today was Eric's 40th birthday. I made little cards listing 40 things I love about him and left them all over the house: In the coffee maker, the fridge, the shower, the car, the cat's bowl. I mailed some to him at work to arrive today. I had one of his coworkers put them on his keyboard and phone at work.
The best one: I gave a couple of cards yesterday to the parking lot guys to give him this morning. I was afraid they would forget, but they greeted him at the lot by singing happy birthday, and giving him the cards (I brought them cookies and candy this evening).
He loved it. I could hear him this morning chuckling every time he discovered a new one. I loved it too. He said I outdid myself!
We had an amazing dinner at Quince (our waiter was an Irish guy from county Laois). I gave the last card to the waiter when I slipped to the loo, and he presented it to Eric later on a plate accompanied by two delicious truffles.
What a great romantic idea! I have to give kudos to Lisa. We came up with it when I was at her house last week.
Here is a picture of some of the cards. One of them you can partially see here is "Your impression of Taylor Hicks." He does a drop dead imitation of the American Idol finalist that kills me. Soul patrol!
those little notes are adorable! what a sweet thing to do.
I have a story a bit similar: on Valentines Day, the first year I was dating my boyfriend, I gave him a stack of envelopes to take to work with him and they had different times written on each one for him to open on that hour. Inside were little notes and paper-cut hearts...the notes mentioned what I was doing at work at the same time, and that I was thinking of him.
I love that you gave them to the parking guys. that is a GREAT detail. thanks for sharing!
