I love this San Francisco artist. She paints elegant women with Modigliani smiles and hourglass figures. She also has a line of gorgeously illustrated chocolates at Recchiuti Confections (available at their store in the Ferry Building here in SF).
I can draw, but curvy comicbook-ish women are the only thing I can draw endlessly, mindlessly. In fact I need to be doodling women anytime I'm on the phone or even in meetings (as anyone who has ever sat beside me can attest to). I think it helps me concentrate. My desk at work and kitchen table at home are littered with scraps of paper bearing women in summer dresses and high heels, or bikinis and sandals, standing hands on hips or sprawled on a chair, staring haughtily back at me.
I have a feeling Kelly Tunstall is like that too.
