Jose Arenas is one of the artists represented by the wonderful HANG ART Gallery here in San Francisco. The gallery, and its annex across the street, are a few blocks from where I work, so I occasionally stroll up there at lunchtime for an art break. Sometimes I walk into a gallery and go, "eh?" but I like the work of virtually all the HANG artists. The pieces are affordable too, compared to other galleries. (I mean they're generally several hundred rather than several thousand dollars.)
I look at this work by Jose Arenas (my favorite among the HANG artists) and wish that I had painted it, the same way I read a poem by Billy Collins and wish that I had written it.
