I'm not someone who makes impulse purchases a lot, but for some reason I was online last week and I ordered this book on Amazon. They didn't have it in stock, but you could pre-order it from a third party. It showed the suggested price, which was $150, so I put in $130. A lot for a book I know, but I really love Margaret Kilgallen, and we made good art-related money at our open studio, so I was happy to recycle that back into art.
Then I got an email that my card had been charged and the book was on the way. It arrived yesterday, and it's gorgeous: hardbound and full of lovely full-color plates and some articles. But today I was cringing a bit at having spent $130 on a book, so I decided to see if $150 really was the going rate.
It's on the Giant Robot site for $40! I paid more than three times the price I needed to. There is nothing I can do about it now so I'm trying to forget it and just enjoy the book, but man! That was stupid!
Sorry Margaret, you're totally worth $130. It's just...you know?
