What a lovely day. Our friends Amy and Randy arrived after a long drive from Portland (they broke up the drive by staying in Redding last night). We promptly had mimosas and Eric made breakfast quesadillas. Then ensued many hours of cooking, sipping good wine, listening to music, soaking in the hot tub, waiting for dinner. Randy and Eric were stars in the kitchen as usual and the meal was amazing. Jason and his sister Kila came too.
Six people for dinner was nice. For the last 3 or 4 years it's been 12 or so for dinner, which is a lot. I am so lucky Eric is such a great cook. What did I do? Um, I opened bottles, topped 'n tailed green beans, opened a packet of crackers, set the table, and I was an exceptionally gracious hostess.
I went to the farmers market on Tuesday to get boysenberry and pumpkin pies. The boysenberry was fantastic, but alas, I inadvertently purchased a gluten-free, dairy-free, good-stuff-free pumpkin pie, and it tasted like evil.
