Lazyme is right. They force you into a suit two or more sizes too small. This came as a shock to me when, after years of swimming in the ocean and in otherwise recreational fora, I took up competitive swimming.
The first time you attempt to don the suit, it's quite daunting. It involves inching the leg holes over your thighs one after the other, some less than graceful tucking of abdominal skin, and then the somewhat surprising compressing of your chest. And, sure enough, they're tight enough to make a c-cup girl into a double a.
Anyway, that was back in the day of racing suits that resembled swimsuits more than, say speed skaters' uniforms. I can only imagine how difficult those are to put on!

no doubt they tighten everything down as much as possible to reduce drag in the water, making them faster.
