Across the Universe

We saw this movie last night, and I absolutely loved it. Eric rented it in an effort to get me to like the Beatles (I confess, I'm not a fan). The visuals were mesmerizing, the story was sweet and earnest, and I really loved the songs, so perhaps it is time for me to listen to the originals. Roger Ebert said that it's a rare musical where you walk into the theater humming the songs. He gave it four stars. Dear old Rodge.

American Gangster, vivid, bloody, and a great showcase for two Hollywood giants, but too long!

There Will Be Blood, jarring, beautiful, but a bit of a head-scratcher for me.

Tonight we're going to Carl and Stephanie's for the Oscars. It's always a fun time because Steph is an Oscars superfan. Last year she had these amazing cookies.

You are a brave soul for admitting to your adoring readers that you are not a Beatle's fan.

But what I know (and they should) is that while you once took pleasure in being a contrarian regarding Beatle's music (who wants to like what everyone else likes when you are in art school?Plus, you had U2 as your house band), you have since heard just how original, wonderful, and beautiful their music is, and have learned what a profound influence it has had on musical tastes - including yours - ever since their tracks were put to vinyl.

And no girl of mine is not going to like the Beatles. Or Bob Dylan. Or swimming in warm water.

I have to confess, I am a Beatles fan...we grew up listening to it, and its kind of in my head and my heart!
I love the top picture, its beautiful.I may try take a look at that flick sometime!

I love The Beatles, but I've been reluctant to see "Across the Universe" because of a lot of bad reviews. The consensus of http://www.rottentomatoes.com is: "Psychedelic musical numbers can't mask the clichéd love story".
